Do you play chess or would you like to learn to play?

The St. Francis Chess Team holds practices weekly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 from September to March and students can join at any time.  Tournaments are held at various schools around the Wichita area throughout the school year.  Students who attend 2 tournaments during the year will be qualified to play in the state tournament in March.

Why should you play chess? What are the benefits?

Chess is a game for all ages. Anyone from Kindergarten to 8th grade may join.   Chess helps develop memory and improves concentration.  It helps develop logical thinking skills.  Chess is a great way to meet new people and have fun, all at the same time!
